Norman Chocolate Festival Annual February Norman Oklahoma If you like chocolate, then you won’t want to miss the Norman hocolate Festival, the Firehouse Art Center’s largest fundraiser of the year. In February, the Forum Building at the University of Oklahoma will be home to a dazzling array of chocolate decadence, as the finest restaurants and chocolatiers in Norman tempt your taste buds with their chocolate creations. All proceeds help support visual arts education, exhibits and programs offered by the Firehouse Art Center. The Norman Chocolate Festival has been ranked third among food festivals in the United States by the Food Network, has been featured in Southern Living Magazine, won the 2009 Frontier Country Grand Award for Outstanding Food Festival in Central Oklahoma, and was voted Bronze for Best Local Festival in the Norman Transcript’s 2010 Readers Choice Awards. Chocolate Festival Arts Day The Chocolate Festival will provide free children’s activities that promote art education. Firehouse instructors will be on-hand assisting the children at each of the activities. The Children’s Art Wall provides an opportunity for children to explore their imaginations with acrylic paint. After the Chocolate Festival, the Art Wall panels will be on display in Lions Park for all of Norman to see. After the event, the paintings will be judged by Firehouse staff, and the painters of the best panels will receive scholarships to the Firehouse Art Center’s “Art After School” programs. Children will also have an opportunity to sculpt animals with clay and contribute to the Creative Clay Animal Project. |
